We have already posted previously about the original air bag recall but in light of the latest news I though we should revisit the subject. In the news again, Honda has just added 1M Civics to the air bag safety recall campaign list. At the insistence of U.S. safety regulators, Honda is adding more than a million of its most popular vehicles to a growing recall for air bags that can explode with too much force. Two weeks ago Honda said it would recall about 350,000 of the cars in high humidity areas. But the recall was expanded after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration demanded that it be done nationally. A driver’s side recall already is being done across the nation.
After a lawsuit filed last week claimed a seventh death was linked to the ongoing recall of defective Takata airbags in millions of vehicles from nearly a dozen manufactures, Honda confirmed over the weekend that the latest fatality did indeed occur in one of its automobiles. The car company says the vehicle was part of a “safety improvement campaign” initiated in June 2014. However, the car’s owner at the time didn’t receive a notification. So when it was sold to the Louisiana woman in October 2014, it hadn’t been repaired.
So how do I know if my car is involved in a safety recall? The manufacturers try to notify you however when cars get bought and sold or people and addresses change you may not get one. Simply go to the website link below and type in your 17 digit vehicle identification number and all open recalls on that vehicle will be listed
